Rally PanAm and Jonah Street to contest the Central Europe Rally in
April.
From April 20 to 26, 2008, the best cross-country rally racers in the
world will gather in Hungary and Romania for the Central Europe Rally.
After the cancellation of the Dakar Rally in January, this is their
first opportunity to compete at the top level, and is the first event
of the new Dakar Series.
Rally PanAm, backed by Top Oil and with rider Jonah Street, will make
the trek from the western United States all the way to central Europe
for this major event. Like most rally racers, the team was very
disappointed at not racing in Africa this year, and is itching to
enter the fray. I'm really looking forward to finally racing again.
says Street.
Niles Follin, Jonahs lead mechanic, adds, we are not very familiar
with this event or terrain, but we have a talented rider, excellent
equipment and an experienced team, all of which makes us ready to
compete anywhere, anytime.
The Central Europe Rally is a new event set on the fast sandy roads of
Hungary and in the mountains of Romania. As part of the Dakar Series,
it will attract competitors who are used to the vast expanses of the
Sahara. Jonah Street will ride the Rally PanAm KTM 690 originally
prepared for the Dakar Rally, with some adjustments for the different
terrain of this new event.
In January, 2009, the Dakar Series moves to South America with another
new event in Chile and Argentina.
Rally PanAm is supported by Top Oil Company, Klim, Scuderia West, APL,
Michelin, BajaDesigns, PAi, Super Plush Suspension, the Riff Raff,
KTMTwins.com, Motion Pro, Transfer Flow, Ready Racing, Scott Goggles,
Renazco Racing, MX1West, Iridium, JJE Constructors, Linkfinity, ICW,
Harry's Custom Paint, DP Brakes, Megla Designs, ProTect, and Aladdin

Press Release April 21, 2008
Jonah Street and Team Top Rally PanAm are 5th overall
after 2 days of the Central Europe Rally
Baia Mare, Romania. After the first two days of the Central Europe
Rally, the team is in Transylvania, preparing for five more days of
intense rally competition. This event is the first of the Dakar
Series, attracting most of the world?s best cross-country rally talent.
Jonah Street finished the first three stages in 8th, 3rd, and 9th
positions, and now stands in 5th position overall, about 2 minutes out
of 2nd place. The wet, muddy and rocky conditions can be very
dangerous for large and powerful rally bikes, so Jonah is riding fast
but conservatively.
Team manager Charlie Rauseo thinks that things are going according to
plan, ?Although shorter than the desert rallies we know so well, this
event is long enough that Jonah can use a strategy of taking as few
risks as possible, especially in the early stages, but keeping within
striking distance of the podium.?
The Central Europe Rally is the first of the new Dakar Series, with US
Television coverage on Direct TV Channel 101. Following success in
this event, Rally PanAm hopes to compete in the entire series,
including the 2009 Dakar Rally in South America.
Team Top Rally PanAm Is the only American motorcycle team now
competing in rallies, and is backed by Top Oil Company, Klim gear,
Scuderia West, Gore-Tex, APL, Motion Pro, Baja Designs, Transfer Flow,
Ready Racing, Scott Goggles, Renazco Racing, MX1West, ICW, DP Brakes,
Megla Designs, Aladdin Freight, KTM Twins.com, JJE Constructors,
Michelin, Linkfinity, Iridium, JoeHauler, SPS Suspension, and Harry?s
Custom Paint.

Press Release April 25, 2008
Central Europe Rally:
Jonah Street and Team Top 1 Oil / Rally PanAm in 8th place overall
entering the final Stage.
Lake Balaton, Hungary. With one day remaining in the Central Europe
Rally, Top-1 Oil / Rally PanAm?s Jonah Street holds on to 8th place
overall. Today and yesterday saw terrain better suited to the team
and Jonah?s open desert experience, with a series of solid top 5 and
top 10 finishes. Were it not for two minor penalties, Street would be
in contention for a podium finish.
Yesterday the team was saddled with 35 minutes in time penalties; 10
for using an un-approved rear tire, and 25 for missing one of the many
GPS waypoints on the course. Team manager Charlie Rauseo reacts to
the news, ?The tire penalty is not really justified. Jonah gained no
advantage by using that tire. Only one approved tire works well in
the terrain of this rally, and since these tires are in very short
supply, we were forced to substitute for another tire on one stage.
The tire we used was no better than those used by most other teams.
Regarding the waypoint, this event has had issues with GPS and
roadbook accuracy and other details since the beginning. Over a third
of the field missed waypoints yesterday, so I think there is some
doubt as to whether this was due to rider error or a technical glitch.
Even so, Jonah is riding exceptionally well, and we are very happy
with the results.?
Team mechanic Niles Follin is happy with the bike, ?Thanks in part to
the support of many great sponsors, the new KTM 690 Rally is working
perfectly. We have not had to replace any major components, which
qualifies us for a good finish in the Marathon class.?
The Central Europe Rally finishes tomorrow.
This rally is the first of the new Dakar Series, with US Television
coverage on Direct TV Channel 101. Following success in this event,
Rally PanAm hopes to compete in the entire series, including the 2009
Dakar Rally in South America.

Press Release April 27, 2008
Central Europe Rally:
Top 10 finish for Jonah Street and Team Top 1 Oil / Rally PanAm
Balatonfured, Hungary. After 7 days competing against the best
cross-country rally racers in the world, Jonah Street has emerged in
9th position overall. In this tight and technical rally, the team is
very happy with this result. Jonah finished special test sections
three times on the podium, and often in the top 5. Still relatively
new to this type of competition, the team gauges its progress against
more established teams. Rally PanAm knows that Jonah can compete
alongside, and often ahead of, the best in the world.
Jonah Street, ?This was a very good test for us, with some good
stages. In my first race on the 690, I think I handled it well. This
was not the type of event where we would normally take a big rally
bike. Hopefully we will get a chance to show what we can do in a real
desert rally soon.?
Rally PanAm?s goal is to win the Dakar Rally. Crew Chief Des
McDonald, ?We fine tuned our skills at this rally, certainly a very
valuable experience.? Team Manager Charlie Rauseo, ?We are exactly
where we need to be. Each time we compete at this level, we learn and
get better at it. Jonah and the crew are significantly closer to
winning one of these events. With a little more help from sponsors,
we hope to compete in the Sertoes Rally in Brazil, and possibly other
major events, before going for the win in the Dakar next January.?

Dakar Rally and Desert Standout Chris Blais Locks In KTM and Red Bull Sponsorships Ahead of Baja 500
May 22, 2007 - Temecula, CA - To the victor go the spoils, and in the midst of a meteoric desert racing career, as well as a podium finish at this year's grueling Dakar Rally, sponsors are clamoring to hook up with current and future off-road star Chris Blais. The latest deals to close are two-year pacts with KTM and Red Bull, a fitting reward for the 26-year-old rider who piloted a Red Bull-sponsored KTM 660 Rally machine to third place this past January in the "mother of all rallies," after claiming top ten finishes in the preceding two years of the race as well.
"I'm excited to be enhancing my relationship with both KTM and Red Bull," said Blais. "Now I know I'll have great bikes - and the energy to race 'em - for at least the next two years!"
"All of us at KTM are very pleased to build our relationship with Chris Blais, focusing on victory in Dakar," said KTM Racing Director Kurt Nicoll. "Over the past 3 years he's proven that he possesses the qualities of a champion. As a factory rider, Chris will continue to receive the best equipment and support that we can provide and we look to a bright future together."

Recognizing elite athletes is something that Red Bull is known for and membership in their much coveted A-team ranks says a lot about what they think about Blais' racing accomplishments.
"Chris Blais was a unanimous choice for all of us at Red Bull," offered Red Bull Motorsports Marketing man Dane Herron. "He exemplifies our culture and core values and we are very proud that he'll continue to be an important member of our family."

Besides enjoying what is arguably the best sponsorship package of any off-road racer in North America, Blais also regularly garners the praise of both competitors and industry veterans alike, including mentor and past Dakar teammate Scot Harden.
"Chris has gone from being just another AMA District 37 fast guy to an elite rally racer in the space of only a couple of years," commented Harden, the manager and Blais' fellow rider on the Red Bull/KTM U.S. Dakar team. "He definitely deserves the kind of corporate support that's coming his way now."
Of the upcoming Class 22 duel with Robby Bell (among a record number of other entries) in the Tecate SCORE Baja 500, Blais says, "I feel confident about my chances this year. I've been very involved developing my race bikes with KTM's factory rally department and now going into our fourth season of working together everything feels natural. It's like an extra shot of confidence, and every little bit helps, whether you're headed for Dakar or taking on the Baja."
Joining Blais on his south of the border trek on June 2nd will be top rallyist Cyril Despres and Nevada fast man David Pearson. Despres is a 2-time Dakar Rally winner and is considered by many to be Europe's finest "rally-raid" competitor. Desert specialist Pearson, 24, is a member of Nevada's famous Pearson racing clan and he's made the headlines recently by capturing the 2007 AMA Hare & Hound series championship title. Flying number plate 7x, the trio will join forces aboard a specially-built KTM 690 based on the factory rally bikes that Despres and Blais will pilot in the January 2008 Dakar Rally.

SCOT HARDEN TO LEAD KTM ADVENTURE TOURS TEAM ON "TECATE SCORE BAJA 500" ASSAULT

May 15, 2007 - Temecula, CA - Off-road legend and head of KTM Adventure Tours North America Scot Harden will lead a four-rider Class 21 motorcycle team to the 2007 Tecate SCORE Baja 500. Joining the multi-time Baja title holder will be 7-time AMA National Enduro champion Mike Lafferty, Harden's son Brent, who is the 2006 AMA District 37 Enduro Series champion, and motocross racer Jacob Cornett.
The June 2nd event is a first-ever Baja racing attempt for Lafferty, Brent Harden and Cornett while it represents the elder Harden's first Class 21 entry since he and fellow Baja racing legend Jack Johnson took the Class 21 win in 1976. Harden went on to grab three Baja 500 overall wins in 1978, 1985 and 1986.
"Mike and Brent had approached me awhile back expressing their interest in racing Baja someday, and the timing for this year's race just seemed right. Teaming with Mike, Jacob, and my oldest son Brent is indeed an honor," said Harden. "Our goal is to have a trouble-free ride and bring the #111 KTM 450 EXC home with a top finish. We've got tremendous support from many sponsors and friends, and we look forward to putting our talents to the test June 2nd in Ensenada."
Team sponsors include KTM Adventure Tours, Red Bull, Motorex, Dunlop, FMF, Motion Pro, Justyn Amstutz, National Powersport Auctions, Scott's Stabilizers, KTM Hard Equipment, Sunstar, Braking, Ogio, Smith, Alpinestars, Resource Marketing and DC Racing Communications.
Says Lafferty, a New Jersey native, "The Baja 500 is one of the events I have always wanted to ride. Over the years I've heard all the stories and I feel that it will be a great experience. With Scot's background and his successful track record in Baja I know I'll be in great hands. We have a break now in this year's AMA National Enduro series schedule so I'm raring to get down to Baja to see firsthand what it's all about."
This year's Tecate SCORE Baja 500 is 420 miles in length and will be run on Saturday June 2, 2007.
